When it comes to the Holiday’s I’m not much of a kitchen handy gal. I leave the cooking to my mother who is an all time pro in the kitchen. In the Brazilian culture, we often have an abundance of meats and fish dishes during our Christmas and the cocktails are your normal table wine and sodas for the non alcohol peeps. So for a few years now I have brought a traditional Puerto Rican Cocktail to our tables called Coquito. It’s hands down the best thing you’ll ever drink and it goes perfect as a warm up for the festivities and also as an after desert cocktail as well. The creamy texture of the drink just screams holiday and it’s the perfect addition to your table.
This drink is similar to eggnog, but so much better. It’s definitely my favorite and I guarantee if you try it, it’ll be yours too!
I have asked my good friend Alexis to share her recipe with us because she makes the absolute best Coquito ever. She has a fantastic vlog channel on YouTube with loads of funny content so go check her out while you’re at it.
The ingredients are as follows:
* 2 eggs
* 1 can of Carnation Milk
* 1 can of Condensed Milk
* 1 can of Coconut Milk
* 1 can of Cream of Coconut
* Cinnamon powder ( 1 tbsp)
* Nutmeg (a pinch)
* Vanilla Extract (a splash)
* Bacardi Superior or Don Q (1.5 or 2.5 cups, depending on how strong you want it)
* Cinnamon Sticks (this goes in the bottle, not the blender)
In a blender add all the ingredients and blend extremely well.
Once it’s mixed well, pour it in a bottle and add the cinnamon sticks. And that’s it!! Enjoy the magic that will happen in your mouth as you sip this deliciousness and seriously, thank me later.
